Mockingjay Part Two Holiday Movie Post

During the holidays I went to see Spectre(2015) and The Hunger Games: Mockingly- Part 2 (2015) in the theaters. Now I think we can all agree James Bond films are very feminist so I am going to list the ten reasons why Katinss Everdeen is a complex female character in the last film of The Hunger Game series to honor the holidays. Just to warn you there may be some spoilers in the list:

  1. Unlike most war films the hero does not savor battle. You can see the pain in Katniss’ face whenever she looked around at the carnage war.
  2. Katniss Everdeen had no interest in using children to seek revenge against the Capital, which is why she killed Coin instead of Snow. She could not let Coin become the new Snow or the children of the Capital die like the ones in the District did for seventy -six years.
  3. Everdeen’s love triangle with Peeta and Gale was way in the background. Mockingjay Part Two was more concerned with revealing the moral issues of war than who Katniss loved more.
  4. Katinss felt guilt at every death no matter if they were from the Districts or the Capital.
  5. Even though Peeta proved to be dangerous Everdeen still did anything to keep him alive and safe.
  6. Katniss wants to assassinate Snow for killing or damaging everybody she loves, but can still listen to the truth when he says it. Enemies know each other better than even the closet of friends sometimes.
  7. Katniss plays the reluctant leader but still acts in the best interest of her people. The rebels listen to her when she says the truth. In some ways Everdeen is cursed with the ability to speak from the heart.
  8. Katniss Everdeen can shoot almost anything no matter the distance with a bow and arrow. She has become more skilled with hand to hand combat as well.
  9. Katniss and her little sister Prim have a very close relationship where they take care of each other.
  10. Katniss Everdeen has a tough exterior, but lets the people she cares in and is fiercely loyal.
